Patsy Haley

Patsy Haley is pictured here between Mickey Walker and Jack Britton before the November 1, 1922 Welterweight Championship fight. Notice Patsy's white hair and bow tie. Also notice how short Patsy is compared to Walker's 5' 7" height. Patsy is behind Walker but only by a foot. You can also see that Patsy is an inch shorter than Benny Leonard in the picture below. Benny was 5' 5". Patsy's height was probably around 5' 4". This is why Patsy Haley mostly refereed in the smaller weight divisions.

Patsy Haley refereed the Welterweight Championship bout between Jack Britton and Benny Leonard on June 26, 1922. In the 13th round, Jack dropped to one knee from a body blow and protested to Patsy Haley that the punch had been low. When Haley continued to count over Britton, Benny struck Jack while he was down, and was disqualified.
