Joe Lohman fought Hall of Famers during his time including Tiger Flowers, Harry Greb, Young Stribling, Jack Delaney, Tommy Loughran and Gene Tunney. Joe fought boxers that were from 3 weight divisions that include heavyweights, light heavyweights and middleweights.

His first manager was James M Henricks early in his career. Later on he was managed by Sam Jordan.
