Harvey "Battling" Sherbine
Harvey "Battling" Sherbine was a middlewight whose hometown was Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was also known to be from McKeesport, Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh Post in 1915 described him as "tall and thin and appeared to be 10 or more pounds lighter than Wenzel." Whitey Wenzel was around 160 pounds during that time so that would make Battling Sherbine around 150 pounds or lighter. It was also written about Sherbine that he " showed some spendid footwork and fair cleverness in ducking, dodging and blocking".
It has been written that he fought Mike Milko at 135 pounds. This may have been early in his career when he was a lightweight. In a December 14, 1912 issue of the Pittsburgh Post he posted an ad saying "Battling Sherbine; of McKeesport, is open to meet any of the local lightweights."
