Gus Christie fought opponents from different divisions. He fought light heavyweights such as Jack Dillon and Battling Levinsky. He fought middleweights such as George Chip, Harry Greb, Frank Mantell and Jeff Smith.

Gus also boxed tough fighters of the time including Billy Miske, George KO Brown, Eddie McGoorty, Buck Crouse, Bob Moha and Kid Norfolk.
