He fought heavyweights such as Gene Tunney and Primo Carnera, as well as light heaveyweights and middleweights.
Wiggins fought for the world light heaveyweight championship in 1920 against Battling Levinsky. Levinsky had successfully defended his title since 1916. The 12 round battle ended in a draw. Levinsky retained his title, but lost it his next fight.
Chuck Wiggins fought Harry Greb a total of 9 astounding times. They were all newspaper decisions, but the newspapers sportswriters gave 2 of the fights to Wiggins. Greb was quoted to have said about Wiggins, "He was the best butter I ever butted with."
He was born in Indianapolis Indiana, by Ruth Wiggins, his mother. He never married but was with a very nice woman Eva when he finally passed away. He was buried in either Fortville or Indianapolis Indiana.
